me (Héctor), standing next to one of CalCryo@QB3's electron microscopes

I’m a queer, Boricua, molecular biologist and science writer.

In my thesis research, I use cryo-electron microscopy and electrophysiology to study the structure and function of channelrhodopsins.

I’m also a strategic and evidence-based science communicator. My work aims to increase trust in scientists by fostering community wellbeing and citizen engagement with science.
